Jackie Buntan

Jackie Buntan profile

Jackie Buntan beat Anissa Meksen in November 2024 to become the first ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world champion. Born in Palos Verdes Estates, California on 2 July 1997, the Filipino-American has also challenged twice for the division's Muay Thai belt.

Raised in a world-champion gym

She started training before her teens at Boxing Works in Southern California under Muay Thai coach Bryan Popejoy, alongside Janet Todd, the former ONE atomweight kickboxing world champion and interim Muay Thai champion.

In 2018 she represented the United States at the IFMA Pan American Championship and won — an amateur-federation route into the sport that almost no Thai fighter takes.

The inaugural Muay Thai title fight

She debuted for ONE in 2021 with a win over Thai prospect Wondergirl, then lost a unanimous decision to Smilla Sundell at ONE 156 on 22 April 2022 for the inaugural strawweight Muay Thai world title — the night Sundell became the youngest world champion in ONE history at seventeen.

Beating Anissa Meksen

Three straight wins followed — over Amber Kitchen, Diandra Martin by first-round TKO and Martine Michieletto — and took her to a title fight with Anissa Meksen, a multiple-time world champion across several promotions.

On 8 November 2024 at ONE 169 she won a unanimous decision over five rounds and became the first ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world champion.

One opponent, two belts lost

Austria's Stella Hemetsberger beat her over five rounds at ONE Fight Night 35 in her second Muay Thai title challenge, then took her kickboxing belt on a split decision at ONE Fight Night 40 in February 2026.

She is 7-3 in the promotion with a 14 percent finish rate: she has finished only one opponent, and has never been finished herself.
