Nico Carrillo is the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion and the first Scot to hold a ONE Muay Thai world title. He has finished seven of his nine fights in the promotion.

Glasgow, and the engineering career he walked away from

Carrillo was born in Scotstoun, Glasgow, on 17 October 1998. He boxed first, found Muay Thai at fifteen on a friend's suggestion, and had his first professional fight two years later. At twenty he gave up an engineering path to train full time.

He fights out of the Deachkalek Muay Thai Academy in Glasgow under J.P. Gallacher, collected titles across Europe including the WBC Muay Thai European championship, and an eleven-fight winning streak brought him to ONE Friday Fights in Bangkok.

Three fights, a six-figure contract and the Nong-O knockout

He arrived in April 2023 and stopped Furkan Karabag in the third round, then took out Muangthai PK Saenchai in June — the win that earned him a US$100,000 contract, the fourth handed out on the weekly series.

The night that made his name came on 22 December 2023 at ONE Friday Fights 46, when he knocked out Nong-O Hama, a five-year ONE bantamweight Muay Thai champion, in the second round.

Losing to Nabil Anane, and moving up a division

After stopping Saemapetch Fairtex in July 2024, Carrillo challenged Nabil Anane for the interim bantamweight Muay Thai title at ONE 170 on 24 January 2025 and lost by first-round TKO. He stopped cutting to bantamweight afterwards and moved up to featherweight, his natural weight.

The change worked immediately: a second-round knockout of Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in April 2025, then a second-round TKO of American Luke Lessei in November.

Interim gold, then the undisputed belt

On 14 February 2026 at ONE Fight Night 40 he beat Shadow Mavinn over five rounds by unanimous decision for the interim ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title.

On 21 July 2026 Tawanchai PK Saenchai vacated the undisputed title while recovering from surgery on the leg injury he suffered against Liu Mengyang in December 2025, and Carrillo was elevated to undisputed champion of the division.

Record, style and what is next

His first fight as undisputed champion came on 15 August 2026 at ONE Fight Night 46, a second-round knockout of China's Zhou Jiaqiang under kickboxing rules.

Carrillo is 8-1 in ONE with seven finishes, an 88 percent finish rate and an average fight time of 7 minutes 10 seconds. The fight everyone wants next is a unification with Tawanchai once the Thai is fit again; ONE has also floated a future move up to lightweight.
