Giorgio Petrosyan profile
Giorgio Petrosyan retired in November 2025 with 109 wins and three losses in 116 fights across 23 years. Born Gevorg Petrosyan in Yerevan on 10 December 1985, he reached Italy at thirteen hidden in the back of a truck and began fighting Muay Thai professionally at sixteen.
Lumpinee, and then six years unbeaten
His first professional loss came at Lumpinee Stadium in January 2007, on points to Nonthanan Por. Pramuk. What followed is the reason his name carries: forty-two fights and six years without losing, a run only ended by Andy Ristie at Glory 12 in New York in November 2013.
He switched fully to kickboxing rules in 2008 and won the K-1 World MAX tournament in both 2009 and 2010, then took the Glory 2012 Lightweight Slam after K-1 folded.
The Grand Prix went through two Thai fighters
ONE signed him in April 2018 as the face of its Super Series. In the 2019 kickboxing featherweight Grand Prix he lost a split decision to Phetmorakot Petchyindee, saw it overturned to a no contest for illegal clinching, then beat Phetmorakot clearly in the rematch.
He knocked out Jo Nattawut in the first round of the semi-final and outpointed Samy Sana in the final at ONE: Century on 13 October 2019 to become the inaugural champion, with a million-dollar cheque alongside the belt.
The kick that nearly ended it
On 15 October 2021 he faced Superbon Banchamek for the first ONE featherweight kickboxing world title as a heavy favourite, and was knocked out by a right high kick in the second round. It was his first defeat since 2013, the second knockout loss of his career, and it broke his jaw.
ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong later said Petrosyan told him he intended to retire after that night and could not sleep for weeks. He fought on instead.
The last fight
He took the WAKO Pro K-1 super welterweight title in May 2024, then closed his career on 22 November 2025 at the Allianz Cloud in Milan, outpointing José Souza in front of more than five thousand people at his own promotion.
